St. Vincent and The Grenadines Historical and Cultural Events

Throughout history, St. Vincent and The Grenadines have been defined by domestic events. Whether it be political or historical events, these have caused outsiders to view the people of St Vincent a special way. Historically, St. Vincent has mostly not been known as an independent nation. In fact, for most of its history, the people of St. Vincent and The Grenadines have seen and been dominated by not only French conquers but the British as well.  After being inhabited by early Africans, the colonization of St. Vincent and The Grenadines would soon begin. This is seen today, as almost two-thirds of the population of St. Vincent is from African descent (Source 1).  During the time of Anglo-French War, the French and the British would exchange ownership of St. Vincent and The Grenadines a couple times (Source 1). El Caribe Gris Challenges

     During the English reading of 'El Caribe Gris' I encountered some difficulties. The biggest issue to me was that there was sort of a language barrier despite being the English translation. It was almost like it was a poor translation, which is was. Although, it did not distract me enough to convey the main idea.     One aspect that changed almost entirely the whole main idea was discovered after I read the sources and took notes. Before I checked them out I assumed it was only Christopher Columbus who got the entire map of the new world incorrect, but it was actually the same as most people of that time.                                                         Early map of the world (source 1) Source 1: Image used from Wikipedia

     Blogging is a lively and interesting way to connect with one’s professor and peers.      I feel that my blogs meet the rubric criteria because they typically follow all the guidelines, like they should.      There are a few aspects of writing assignments that can create stress for me. This primarily is the deadlines. Sometimes I can procrastinate too much and not start my assignments until only a few days before it is due. It is actually something that I have been working on as of recent so hopefully the problem will be eliminated. However, when I do my work assignments, I make sure to put in as much effort as possible.      After I finish my writing assignments I will always make sure to check it for possible grammar errors and mistakes.      With almost everything being online these days, I’ve become used to it.
