Jamaica is an island off the coast of South America located in the Caribbean. It’s to the south of Cuba and north of the Lower Antilles islands. The capital of Kingston is home to almost half of Jamaica’s population at 1.23 million (Source 1).

Jamaica is full of culture that is embedded deep into its history. Jamaicans have evolved over the years through cooperation with English Colonizers who enslaved them and the indigenous Jamaicans. The indigenous people of Jamaica were believed to have migrated there from South America. They lived their lives growing maize, fruits, and a wide variety of vegetables before being discovered by the early Spaniards (Source 2).

The beaches of Jamaica are beautiful and sandy. It is the perfect get-away to unwind and relax considering all the worrisome times going on in the world.

Food in Jamaica is some of the most extensive, best food you would like to eat. Patties are a Jamaican staple; a turnover filled with spicy beef or chicken in a flaky crust. Another popular food dish is Ackee and Salt fish, which is very delicious indeed. Here is an image of a Jamaican delicacy, the beef patty. (Source 5).

Lastly music and culture is almost unmatched to what it is like in Jamaica. Reggae music is popular there, as it is the Birthplace of the famous late singer and musician Bob Marley. You can hear his music almost anywhere you wander in Jamaica. It is truly a fully immersive, unique experience!

Hopefully one day you will consider a visit to the country of Jamaica in the near future!
